I hope Mazda Philippines will also introduce the sedan variant. The green color looks funky...

alabanger, its the VW Polo that competes with the Mazda 2, not the Golf.

Comparing it to its small hatckback rivals like the Honda Jazz and Toyota Yaris,I would say that Mazda's design is better than Toyota's, but far from the design of the Honda Jazz, which looks more cool and fun to drive while having a more aerodynamic shape than the two competitors. The price(for the 1.5L A/T) of the Honda Jazz(P822,000) is the most expensive among the three, followed by the Mazda 2(P795,000), and Toyota Yaris(P766,000). But for me, I would go for the Yaris, which has a very fuel efficient engine(similar to the VIOS), and low maintenance cost.

The Yaris is just a improved version of the old Echo(still the same platform and engine which is not great),no wonder this crap is already beaten by the Suzuki Swift in terms of sales. The Jazz looks too similar to the old one and I really don't like its interior and its pricing which is STUPID!!..The Mazda2 looks awesome and fresh and its based on a new platform shared with the upcoming new gen Ford Fiesta!

103 hp??? the engine of the yaris is more powerful. i'll prefer the yaris than this one. yaris is cheaper or rather the cheapest among the three. :D

Mazda 2 is now available in the country....I wonder when will the revised Mazda 3 hit the Philippine roads???

Is this Mazda 2 the one with a CRDI diesel powerplant?

795k? is that the entry level? If not, it would be lesser than the 1.5V Jazz. If that green car just costs 795k I'll buy it....If my dad approves..hehe...about the altis... at that price range you could only buy the entry level one used by taxis.
  • m0nk Dec 27 2009 @ 05:23pm
true...most of their cars are automatics...iba talaga pag are really in control...
  • BOOGIECAT Dec 27 2009 @ 09:00pm
Mazda will introduce more variants of the Mazda2 next year including the 1.3 Sedan and 1.5 liter M/T variant..The Altis E?YUCK THAT CAR IS AWFUL JUST LIKE THE SO-SO FLOP YARIS!!!I'd rather settle for this Mazda2 instead!Fiat 500 and Golf here???ASA KA PA!!!LOL!!
  • BOOGIECAT Dec 27 2009 @ 10:36pm
Mas mahina ang engine ng Yaris at Vios,no wonder its a FLOP!..Di yan gas guzzler AFAIK according to reviews sa kanya sa Europe.

saw some of the pics...doesn't seem to have the same cargo capacity of a Jazz...but more good-looking compared to the other one...
  • m0nk Jan 01 2010 @ 03:27pm
but if they have a manual for it..the price would be lower right?
  • webbie Jan 08 2010 @ 01:28pm
woohoo... another great addition to ClubMazda Philippines! :D
  • webbie Jan 08 2010 @ 01:30pm
other than its specs, Mazda 2's design is way better than the new Jazz. I'll definitely be getting the 2 this year.

if only they lower the price then it would be great....if not...jazz would be better
