Mitsubishi reveals Concept G4 sedan

Mitsubishi Concept G4

Mitsubishi has finally revealed the Concept G4, a concept model "for a new compact eco sedan," at the 34th Bangkok International Motor Show.

Unfortunately, however, the Japanese carmaker didn't add anything more to what we already reported two weeks ago. So, other than seeing the car in the metal, we're still just as curious about the car as you are.

Since Mitsubishi has revealed that this Concept G4 is equipped with a 1.2-liter engine and CVT drivetrain, could this simply be the sedan version of the Mirage?

If this is a Mirage sedan, then it is much more sophisticated looking then the current Mirage hatch.

Napansin ko lang, is this based from the Almera? Their body length & shape details have many parts in common...

I saw a picture of the back of the G4 and it actually resembles the outgoing Vios.

The C-pillar though looks like that of the Almera.

Also, AFAIK, the Almera is way bigger than this. I think the almera could be said to be a B-segment car with C-segment aspirations, lol. I doubt Mitsu would launch a car as big as the Almera with only a 1.2, unless it comes with a turbo ala EcoBoost.

Dude, 1.2L lang ang makina ng Almera sa Thai w/c looks like you don't know...

Expect a 1.4 and a 1.5/1.6L engine version of this vehicle when the production model comes out here in our concrete roads...

I know about the 1.2L engine in Thailand. My insider told me that Nissan Philippines made it a point to only bring in the 1.5 because they couldn't seem to price the two variants far apart which will make the 1.2 too expensive for people's taste. Heck, the 1.5 itself is viewed as too expensive by many.

Going back to the G4, my point was that if it were as big as the Almera, I'm almost certain Mitsu will not skimp on performance and won't launch it with the Mirage's stock 1.2L engine. Either they'll boost the power output or provide a larger engine. But if the production G4 follows the Mirage's ratios, then it would be much lighter than the Almera and even the 1.2L engine would suffice to give it quite a dynamic drive. Given that the G4 is touted as an eco car, and that a 1.2 mill will be used for it, I'm leaning that it'll remain small and light.
