Mitsubishi Motors is set hold its compact crossover vehicle's debut outside of Japan at the Geneva International Motor Show in March.

The RVR, as it is known in Japan, will be launched as the Mitsubishi ASX in Europe.

One of the powerplants the ASX will be getting is an all-new Euro 5-compliant 1.8-liter turbocharged direct-injection diesel engine developed jointly by Mitsubishi Motors and its heavy equipment subsidiary, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

The crossover bound for Europe will also get a six-speed manual transmission and Mitsubishi's version of the start-stop system called Automatic Stop & Go.

The all-new Mitsubishi compact crossover will be sold in Japan starting February. TopGear.com.ph earlier reported it will reach the Philippine market by the second half of the year.

"With the RVR, MMC expands its crossover lineup, which already includes the full-size Pajero and the midsize Outlander," Mitsubishi Japan said.
