(SPOT.ph) Of the seven days of the week, Sunday is the only day that we see roads clear enough to actually enjoy driving. The usual two-hour trip along EDSA is often reduced to less than 30 minutes of travel, but not this Sunday, October 15.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government advised motorists of possible traffic disruptions on Sunday morning during the third convoy dry run for the upcoming 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations Leaders Summit and Related Meetings from November 10 to 14. Technical Working Group on Traffic Management Chairperson Emmanuel V. Miro confirmed that the following areas will be affected from 6am to 10am:

  • Southbound lane of Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway
  • North Luzon Expressway
  • South Luzon Expressway Skyway
  • Buendia Extension
  • J. W. Diokno Boulevard and Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City
  • McKinley and 5th to 30th Streets in Taguig City
  • Ayala Avenue and Makati Avenue in Makati City

The dry run will simulate three scenarios for the upcoming global summit, during which three convoys of national leaders and diplomats will head to Metro Manila from the Clark International Airport in Pampanga. The first convoy will proceed to the Manila Hotel, the second one will go to Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City, and the third one will drive to The Peninsula Manila in Makati City.

These routes are all part of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Ceremonial Lanes, which are expected to be heavily affected come November. Commuters are advised to take alternate routes.

The Metro Manila Council announced on October 10 that classes on all levels in Metro Manila are suspended on November 16 and 17 to give way to the ASEAN event.
