Early this month, we booked an appointment with Land Transportation Office assistant secretary Alfonso Tan Jr. for a face-to-face interview. The government agency he is handling had been under extreme scrutiny by the Senate and even by the public. In the spirit of fairness, we gave the LTO chief the opportunity to air his side of the story.
We also gave our readers and Facebook followers the chance to post their own questions for Atty. Tan. Out of the hundreds of questions, 18 were selected. These were e-mailed to him and LTO spokesperson Jason Salvador prior to the interview.
For the first installment of this exclusive interview, the following questions were answered:
* What happened to the license-card printers? - Lester Dumlao
* Kung valid as temporary license ang OR ng license ko at ang nakasulat ay "good for 90 days from the date of issue," kailangan pa ba naming bumalik para ipa-extend ito? Huhulihin ba ako kung sakaling paso na 'yung validity? - Mau Jasmin
* What prevents the LTO from promptly and efficiently delivering basic services? - Lauro A.P. Castillo Jr.
* Why do you issue driver's licenses to incompetent, uneducated drivers? - Rosmond Villanueva
