The Land Transportation Office is ordering its traffic enforcers to apprehend vehicles that continue to use expired commemorative license plates.
In a memo issued by LTO chief Virginia Torres on July 31, she said that "all previous authorities to use commemorative plates already expired." As such, the commemorative plates are no longer valid "and should no longer be displayed."
To prevent the continued use--and abuse--of these commemorative plates, Torres is ordering her personnel to apprehend violators immediately. The memo should give the enforcers all the confidence they need to finally apprehend motorists that continue to use the commemorative plates of local law enforcement agencies to intimidate traffic enforcers and prevent the latter from doing their job.
If your car has one of these plates, go unscrew it now.
