TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car News - NLEX, SCTEX, Cavitex bare plans for Holy Week exodus

The operators of the North Luzon Expressway, the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway and the Cavite Expressway have announced their plans to manage the expected traffic buildup within their respective jurisdictions as motorists and commuters travel to and from the provinces for the long Holy Week break.

On April 1 and 2, the northbound gates of the Dau toll plaza will be opened from 2pm of April 1 to 4pm of April 2 so cash-paying motorists will no longer need to stop at said tollgates to pay. Instead, the toll will be paid at the Mabalacat toll plaza on SCTEX. Easytrip subscribers are advised to still pass through their designated exit lanes at the Dau toll plaza.

Temporary toll collection points will also be opened on April 1 to 2 at the Dau northbound flyover and at the Santa Ines and Mabalacat exits. A toll fee of P277 for Class 1 vehicles coming from Balintawak and bound for Tarlac will be collected at the Mabalacat toll plaza, while P363 will be collected for those bound for Subic. On the other hand, the toll fee based on their entry point will be collected in advance from Class 1 vehicles entering SCTEX other than the Mabalacat toll plaza and bound for either Tarlac or Subic. Motorists are advised to surrender their stub upon exit since this will serve as their proof of payment. According to the expressways' operators, this advance payment scheme is being implemented to minimize the vehicles that are expected to queue at the Tarlac and Subic toll plazas.

On April 4 and 5, the southbound gates of the Dau toll plaza will be open from 12 noon of April 4 to 11pm of April 5 so motorists paying in cash and bound for Manila will no longer need to stop at said gates for the transit ticket. Easytrip subscribers should still pass through their designated exit lanes at the Dau toll plaza.

The operators of the three expressways will also set up its "Safe Trip Mo, Sagot Ko" motorist assistance program at all service stations on NLEX. On Cavitex, the service camps will be located in the southbound portion before the Parañaque and Kawit toll plazas on April 1, 2 and 4, and in the northbound portion after the Parañaque and Kawit toll plazas on April 5 and 6.

Northbound motorists exiting at the SCTEX-Tipo and SCTEX-Tarlac toll plazas may avail of discounted toll fees by buying the "Safe Trip Mo, Sagot Ko" express exit card at the following locations from 7am of April 1 to 7pm of April 2: Petron Marilao, Shell Balagtas, Total San Simon, Petron Lakeshore and Dau toll plaza. This express exit card may only be used by motorists using Class 1 vehicles.
