Some good news from the Land Transportation Office (LTO): We recently got word that the Driver's License Renewal Centers (DLRC) located in Pasig will be back online in the coming weeks. The Robinsons Galleria and the now-closed SM Hypermart renewal centers have been inactive for nearly two years now.

These convenient satellite offices made renewing licenses quick and easy for every motorist, and we were surprised when we were told to head to the bigger LTO branches when we dropped by Robinsons Galleria for our last renewal. Current Pasig DLRCs can be found at the basement level of Robinsons Galleria, while the SM Hypermart center has moved to Tiendesitas.

This effort is overseen by LTO Pasig Branch officer in charge Nida San Buenaventura. “These renewal centers are scheduled to open very soon, but we have to take care of printing the backlogs of the SM Hypermart branch first,” she shares. The pending licenses to be printed is estimated at 9,000 cards.

San Buenaventura tells us that the LTO Pasig staff works until late evening, and even on Saturdays, to catch up with the backlog because it takes approximately two minutes to print a single card. You do the math. As long as the system is up, printing of licenses continues.

And in case you missed the news, driver's licenses now have a five-year validity. And if you are an OFW who is leaving the country, you are always given priority with getting the printed card, too.

These developments are something to look forward to indeed. Good job, LTO.
