The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) is advising motorists to steer clear of a number of lockdown areas during and in the days leading up to the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit.

This year's summit will be held from November 10 to 14, but road closures begin as early as November 8 with the partial lockdown of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) complex in Pasay City from 12am onward. Other areas to be affected by the event include Roxas Boulevard from Padre Burgos Avenue to Buendia Avenue, and the SMX-MAAX Block.

Below is the full list of lockdown zones and road closures provided by the DILG:

*November 8 (12am onward) - partial lockdown of CCP Complex, Pasay City

*November 11 (10pm onward) - complete lockdown of SMX-MAAX Block, Pasay City

*November 12 (12am onward) - complete lockdown of CCP Complex, Pasay City

*November 13 (12am onward) - total lockdown of Roxas Boulevard starting from

Padre Burgos Avenue to Buendia Avenue, Manila

*November 13 (12am onward) - partial lifting of lockdown at SMX-MAAX Block, Pasay City

*November 13 (12pm onward) - lifting of lockdown for Roxas Boulevard (Padre Burgos

Avenue to Buendia Avenue, Manila)

*November 14 - continuous lockdown of CCP Complex, Pasay City

*November 15 (12pm onward) - partial lifting of lockdown for CCP Complex, Pasay City

ASEAN Committee on Security, Peace and Order, Emergency Preparedness and Response (CSPOEPR) head Catalino Cuy is requesting for the cooperation and understanding of the public. "With less than two weeks before the event, I urge the public to steer clear of said lockdown areas so that they will not be trapped just in case there is a passing convoy," he said.

The official also says motorists should avoid passing through the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and EDSA, as a stop-and-go scheme will be implemented with each passing ASEAN convoy.

You've been informed, so remember to plan your trips during the 2017 ASEAN Summit accordingly. We'll be sure to let you know if anything else comes up.
