Let's say you're a rich car collector, with automobiles like the Bentley Continental GT, Lamborghini Gallardo, Audi R8, and Ferrari 458 Italia in your garage, just to name a few. What if you knew that a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG--owned by the country's exclusive Mercedes-Benz distributor and which has seen its share of high-speed action during exclusive track events--was for sale for the right price? In other words, the car's 6.3-liter V8 engine and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission have been through a lot and may have probably even reached the car's top speed a few times. Would you still buy it? How about if it bore the autographs of two ex-race car drivers named Mika Hakkinen and David Coulthard?
Apparently, that's what Willie Revillame just did, judging by the photos posted in the Facebook account of one of his associates, as confirmed by TopGear.com.ph through another associate of the TV host and comedian.
The particular SLS AMG (plate number SLS-63) is very familiar to the motoring media because it has been consistently present in every Mercedes-Benz driving event ever since CATS Motors acquired it in July 2010. As a matter of fact, it was present at the Mercedes-Benz Driving Experience hosted by CATS Motors and held at the Subic Bay International Airport in April. We were also there when Coulthard signed it at the local launch of his namesake watch by TW Steel in September 2011, and when Hakkinen autographed it during his Philippine tour as Johnnie Walker's Responsible Drinking Ambassador in November 2011.
With CATS Motors refusing to give even a ballpark figure for the price of the SLS AMG, how much do you think Revillame paid for the car? Do the autographs of Hakkinen and Coulthard add value to a three-year-old supercar?
