Nissan Motor PH still has pulse, reveals Grand Livina Highway Star

Nissan Grand Livina Highway Star

Some of you must be wondering whatever happened to Nissan Motor Philippines, which has been awfully silent of late in terms of new-product or new-variant introductions. Let the wondering stop now, as NMPI has informed us about the latest product offering that will be arriving at its dealerships this weekend. We're talking about the Grand Livina Highway Star, which, according to Nissan, "carries performance parts by Autech Japan, a group under the umbrella of Nissan Motor Ltd., famous for its various customized vehicles. This is the same group that teams up with Nismo for some of its racing cars."

Making this Grand Livina edition special are:

* Chrome grille with horizontal elements;

* Front bumper with integrated air splitters;

* Side mirror covers with LED turning lamps;

* Foglamp chrome garnish;

OEM side skirts, rear skirt and roof spoiler; and

* 15-inch polished alloy wheels with gunmetal accents.

For how much, you ask? The Grand Livina Highway Star Luxury variant is P928,000, while the Grand Livina Highway Star Elegance is P1,008,000. Both are powered by a 1.8-liter in-line-four gasoline CVTC engine mated to a four-speed automatic transmission and rated at 124hp and 174Nm. The difference consists mainly of interior upgrades, including leather seatsleather steering wheel with wooden trim, and a higher-end audio system for the Elegance variant.

    oh boy! new uppies and body kits... Isn't it a little to late nissan?? oh come on!! Grand livina w/ body kits?? a family car w/ body kits wouldn't make your sales go up!!
    • Kyoichi Sudo 11 months ago
      Agree! Even college boys wouldn't insist buying one, look at the design! Too girly! The rims are to small to be sporty too. A Diesel Version of this family car would make your sales go up Nissan!

    Body kits for an MPV, are you kidding me? Better bring the the latest altima!
    • auwidoe 11 months ago
      what's wrong with body kits for an MPV? Toyota Innova is an MPV but with body kits, it doesnt look bad.. Also the Nissan ElGrande with body kits doesnt look bad either.

    First of all Id like to commend the mobile site. Its fast and responsive ,been waiting for this for quite a long time..

    Id say that grand livina along with fuzion are two of the most underrated vehicle in the land.. Their greatly overshadowed by the old stud king of auvs innova,x-wind and adventure.. Bit if ud have all of those five vehicles at the same time, id bet livina and fuzion will still be reliable and responsive..

    This is all very nice. But what they need is not more cosmetic upgrades but a DIESEL VARIANT.
  • Nicolite 11 months ago
    FYI guys Nissan grand livina uses a Renault MR18DE engine and uses a timing chain sturdier than timing belt, check the previous and old review of top gear about grand livina ......... It is a fuel economy car so no need for diesel variant,
  • miguel2012 11 months ago
    pinalaki na ba ang size niya like innova? may diesel?
  • BOOGIECAT 11 months ago
    The body kit looks good!
  • spherion03 11 months ago

    • BOOGIECAT 11 months ago
      Sa 2013 pa ang new Sentra.Yung Altima naman ay di yan lalabas dito dahil mayroon nang Teana..New Pathfinder?Sa 2013 pa yan,wala pa nga yung production version nyan!

    Highway star in japan is called Lafesta with 2.0L engine and much better than we have here. Why not just bring the Lafesta(truly a highway star) here or the NV200 Vanette or the new Serena. But just the same, all cars are gas fed and the price might be 1.5M up if brought here by Nissan.
    • BOOGIECAT 11 months ago
      Pang RHD market lang ang new Serena at Lafesta...Yung NV200 ay darating next year sa local market..
  • vonschnipp 11 months ago
    So it seems buyers who would prefer the 6-speed MT will have to forget about improved styling. BTW the picture looks stretched, the Livina is narrower in the flesh.

    i think nissan wants to give the grand livina an identity crisis and confuse its market. these new cosmetics won't help at all. the grand livina is a great versatile machine but it is foremost a family vehicle. i'm not saying there aren't any people who want a sporty family vehicle, but they're more exceptions than the rule. for those prices, if you're a buyer and want something sporty, then get an suv.
  • Fernando Amorsolo 11 months ago
    Grand Livina will still find its buyers. A car like stance, but an mpv nevertheless.

    four-speed automatic transmission?...anong taon na ba ngayon?
    • markdejesus76 11 months ago
      Practical kasi ang 4 speed auto.
    • mindkinetic 11 months ago
      subaru forester is likewise 4speed a/t and yet delivers excellent driving dynamics
    • auwidoe 11 months ago
      even Toyota uses 4-speed automatic transmission
  • Nicolite 11 months ago
    At least this is better than Toyota Avanza which is also a competitor in its 7 seater category, they could have released as well the 6 speed manual tranny like the elite model of Nissan Grand Livina which is much fuel efficient since i am driving one as well, unlike innova or Kijang which is used for PUV here in the Phils. And Nissan's market in while asia is higher than Toyota, even the Nissan Sentra 200 uses as well a Renault engine MR20DE a timing chain engine the same as Livina's MR18DE engine. Nissan's marketing strategy lacks in ads, if your a person who loves to research and know the roots of everypart of a car then this car is a good buy for your pocket due to its engine, i still love stick driving rather than a lame automatic tranny. Hope that they would release this on their MT model.

    Ok lang kahit walang diesel,ang problema jan ay ung third row seat,HINA OR WALANG AIRCON na umaabot...kaya binenta namin agad..sayang nice pa naman pang mom's mobile..
    • John Rigor 11 months ago
      I never really expected Nissans to have weak aircons. :O
  • The SUV 11 months ago
    looks a wagon not a mpv
  • mts 11 months ago
    Livina to Innova: "Hey, you know fusion from DragonBallZ? Lets do it!".. Boom. Hence, the Highway Star.
  • mindkinetic 11 months ago
    in my opinion the livina is the THE most under rated mpv. the truth is it is faithful to it's goal to deliver a "carlike" ride with precise handling and excellent power delivery while maintaining its multipurpose attribute. .if a family can afford only one car and that car must be versatile the livina is the best choice.
  • Marionific!5 11 months ago
    Is this what you called "HIGHWAY STAR"?
  • 16c galibier 11 months ago
    Nissan should get a face lift and they need a new look for there vehicles and they need to upgrade there looks and features once in a while.
