The new Toyota Corolla Altis has been unveiled at the 3rd Philippine International Motor Show where Toyota Motor Philippines is now showing off the sedan’s much-needed facelift aimed at keeping the model looking fresh.
Noticeable changes are found in the Corolla Altis’ front exterior, which now has smoked headlamps and a pair of foglamps. Emphasizing its sporty nature of the Altis is the bar type front grille lined with mesh on the inside. The rear and side also get slightly reworked via the smoked rear combination lamps, side spoilers and the five-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels.
The Corolla Altis’ interior also gets retouched as it now sports a new dark gray upper interior color. The gauges are now rendered as optitron meters, the integrated 2-DIN In-Dash sound system comes with six speakers and has an auxiliary input while the automatic climate control comes with a digital push-type control panel with clean air filter.
The Corolla Altis is still powered by a 2-liter engine though this is now equipped with an Acoustic Control Induction System that increases the engine’s air intake for better fuel combustion. This engine puts out 145 horsepower and 187 Newton meters of torque. The still-available 1.6-liter engine produces 120hp and 154Nm of torque.
Paired to the 2-liter engine is the Super Continuously Variable Transmission-intelligent system which promises smooth acceleration while achieving maximum fuel efficiency. It also comes with paddle shifts that offer seamless shifting and reduced noise and vibrations. A six-speed manual transmission is still available for the 1.6-liter variant.
The refreshed Corolla Altis will be available by September with the 2-liter variant at P1,135,000 while the 1.6-liter variants will be price at P955,000 for the AT-equipped V variant, P894,000 for the AT-equipped G variant, P858,000 for the MT-equipped G variant, and P804,000 for the base MT-equipped E variant.
