PIMS 2012: Nissan Motor PH seeks to redefine fun

TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car News - PIMS 2012: Nissan Motor PH seeks to redefine fun

With "Drive the Fun" being the theme of the 4th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), Nissan Motor Philippines (NMPI) is joining the celebration by giving the show's visitors a look at the Almera and the concept model of the 370Z.

"We are excited for this year's PIMS because it's all about what Nissan believes and lives for," said NMPI president Allen Chen. "NMPI designs and builds vehicles that zoom in this whole concept. We believe in shifting the way our consumers move by providing them with vehicles built around them."

The Almera's appearance at the show is simply a preview as NMPI marketing vice president Lee Junia confirmed with TopGear.com.ph last June that it could be officially available locally "as early as the last quarter of the year."

The 370Z concept model's appearance, however, is special as its designer, Randy Rodriguez, is a Canadian-born Filipino. Two interesting tidbits about Rodriguez is that his first car was a 280Z when he was only 14 years old, and that he has owned around 10 Nissan Z cars in his life.

Joining these two cars at the motor show is NMPI's current product lineup: Grand Livina Highway Star, X-Trail Highway Star, and the Teana.

Besides the vehicles, NMPI has some games for the show's attendees to make their experience more exciting with freebies and prizes being given to the participants. Car-shoppers will also be able to get behind the wheel of the Nissan vehicle they want as test drives will be available at the venue.

"Our vehicles address different personalities and lifestyles of the consumers," added Chen. "Performance, functionality and even safety features are borne and built with our consumers in mind. We make it a point to know the lifestyle that they live, what their needs are, and how our vehicles can complement these and address their needs to make their driving more enjoyable and fun. This is also what our consumers can expect at the Nissan booth."

The 4th PIMS will be held on August 16 to 19, 2012, at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

how come they don't bring the nissan qashqai instead. I think it is more sensible for our roads.
      • BOOGIECAT 10 months ago
Sa Europe lang yan at sobrang mahal pag dinala rito.Wala namang plano i-assemble dito ang Juke.

1! The commercials seemed to making me buy one. It's compact, agile yet tough! Alternatively, the Juke is also fine by me, so long as UMC would bring in the Juke-R!

tama, it can compete with Mazda CX-5, Mitsubishi ASX and the Subaru XV. The looks of Qashqai can compete here unlike the Juke which is so damn *gly.

don't just display it, bring the metal here!

If the Almera is based on the Micra/March Hatchback, then why don't they bring the Micra too?
    • BOOGIECAT 10 months ago
Masyadong mahal ang Micra(nasa 600-700K Pesos) pag binenta ng NMPI dito kaya Almera na 1.2 at 1.5 Liter nalang ang dinala nila rito.

What does the 370z mean, a new concept model or the currently model being sold overseas?
    • spherion03 10 months ago
The current model being sold overseas. If they will sell that sports coupe, Nissan's so late because the current version is already years old.

    No GT-R? :okay:

    Almera = baby teana
  • spherion03 10 months ago
The Almera's looks is still nothing compared to those of Vios, City, Fiesta, Accent, Mazda2 and Rio. Nissan is so late in exterior designing of their cars!
    • BOOGIECAT 9 months ago
As if naman maganda ang sedan versions ng Fiesta,Mazda 2 at Vios na mukhang deformed versions lang.

Really? I don't know if a vios or a city or even an accent is what you consider modern. lol. Generally speaking it is not Nissan is late on designs, because outside our mother land it's a different kind of Nissan all along. If you want a sample take a look at grey market cars, oh let's not include the sportsrcars coz maybe it's not fair? :D Check out the latest Nissan Armada, and Elgrand (G.starex design inspiration).

I have mixed feelings about the Almera's rear...

It is great Nissan is bringing in a new car - the Almera. It is sad that only after 2 generations of Vios and City before Nissan brought in a competitor. Hope it succeeds in the hot B-segment.
