PIMS 2012: Toyota exhibits kitted-out 86, Vios TRD edition

TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car News - PIMS 2012: Toyota shows off kitted-out 86s, Vios TRD Limited Edition

Toyota Motor Philippines may not have anything new to show at the 4th Philippine International Motor Show, but it does have on display two (or three, depending on how you look at it) of its most sought-after products: two 86 sports coupes and a Vios. These aren't your run-of-the-mill variants since all three cars sport add-ons to make them even more desirable.

For the 86, TMP has on display the Aero variant and a standard model that's been kitted out with Toyota Racing Development (TRD) accessories.

The 86 Aero features aggressive front, side and rear skirts topped by a high-mount rear spoiler, while red trim on the steering wheel, shift knob, door handles and bucket seat adds to the car's sportier flavor. As for the 86 TRD, it packs a carbon-fiber strut bar, oil cap, sports air filter, quad-tip muffler and sports suspension springs, while its exterior is clad with an aerodynamic wraparound bodykit and a ducktail spoiler.

The Vios TRD Limited Edition model, meanwhile, comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, rear spoiler, muffler cutter, and side skirts.

"Today, we have shown you a glimpse of Toyota's new direction," said TMP president Michinobu Sugata. "Ladies and gentlemen, this is only the beginning. We at Toyota are proud to bring you even more exciting vehicles in the future."

The TRD variant must have an engine upgrade and an upgraded suspension for the added power. Please, Toyota wag lang puro body kit.

if you buy all of the TRD kit, half of the cost will go to the suspension and to the high response mufler. 200k plus on the suspension and 125k for the mufler.

well, I think that's just right, di naman kasi lahat puro pang pormahan lang ang gusto. syempre yung iba gusto din talaga ng added power, di lang dapat puro porma kung baga compliment na lang yung body kit ang target talaga eh optimum performance :D kaya nga TRD eh...opinion ko lang naman po yun, understandable kasi Aero body kit na body kit lang talaga, sa TRD dapat may engine upgrade.

I'll like the TRD Vios if its muffler is as noisy as a race car, not as noisy as Hondas...

I'll be blunt here. It's lousy. So much time was wasted on useless drama. Filipinos film makers should learn a trick or two from Nino Karrota. Watch his work here http://vimeo.com/45170151 and be amazed. Thank me later.

That wing on the 86 doesn't look good. It looks like a ricer got hold of the 86 and added that sky-high wing.
