PIMS 2012: Toyota increases Philippine-market allotment of 86

TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car News - PIMS 2012: Toyota increases Philippine-market allotment of the 86 to 200

Prospective buyers of the Toyota 86 who were understandably miffed when Toyota Motor Philippines revealed that only 77 units would reach the market this year can breathe easy now. Perhaps seeing how fast all 77 units had been snapped up even before the 86 was launched, Toyota has increased the Philippine market's allotment of the 86 to 200 units.

No less than Toyota Motor Philippines president Michinobu Sugata made the announcement during TMP's presentation of the 86 Aero and 86 TRD to the attendees of the 4th Philippine International Motor Show's opening yesterday.

"At Toyota, everything starts and ends with our customers," said Sugata. "The 86 and other models on display are a testament to our commitment in creating fun-to-drive vehicles for all our customers--without sacrificing the quality and value for money that Toyota is renowned for. In doing this, we would like to bring the fun factor to everyday driving experience."

Time to go to your nearest Toyota dealership to make a down payment on the 86 then.

I don't know if 200 units is enough, at least more 86 will be coming here.
Q: Are they bringing 200 units a month? or a year? Just a thought...

Yes to that according to a distributor, but I'm not satisfied, the backseat is really useless even for a child, maybe for bags or something.

No offense, but I believe you will forget about the backseat once you're driving this car.
      • Stevie Jobs 10 months ago
Yeah. After all, you're not buying this car for it's rear seat, that's just a bonus. :)

Yes I think so, this car is just for fun, sana maka-afford ako ng cars just for fun....

Toyota did not expect that filipinos, not only the young ones but also the middle aged & seniors alike, love sporty vehicles specially if the price is reasonable. The car could be a daily car or a weekend car or a collector' s car and the car size is just right for narrow philippine roads. It can be considered as poor man's sports car.

di kaya marketing ploy lang ng toyota yung sinabi nilang yung 1st batch of 77 units ng 86 is sold out na kaagad? kasi i saw units of the 86 being displayed in cebu and davao. binibenta pa nga ng sales supervisor ng toyota cebu ang unit eh.

Wow... Dito sa Luzon, Cabanatuan City... Pinapabid nila yung display nila kasi dami daw may gusto kumuha...
Sabi ng sales representative nila, naka abot na ng 2.3M yung bid.
Ang bonus daw ng kukuha eh, gagawin nilang naka TRD kit all the way.

Possible that's it's a marketing strategy of Toyota Philippines. From 77units to a whopping 200? That's a huge jump! Amazing! It could be that they've already planned on this earlier. They just want to see the reaction of the enthusiasts; if they will go crazy and definitely get more excited or what. Or I believe it could be the fact that Toyota Philippines just posted its highest sales in 24 years for the month of July, a record-breaking month for Toyota Philippines; that's why Toyota is rewarding us with 123 more unit allocation of the 86!

I honestly think that this is a marketing ploy, It's like this 77 units for the teaser as well as a gauge on how consumers will react but in fact there are more than 77 units here in our country. If this is true then well played Toyota, well played, but honestly the head unit is sh*tty and yeah the materials used inside feels "cheap, for some reason I can not ponder.
