The House of Representatives is running an online poll asking if the public would appeal the Lemon Law's passage in the Senate.

The Lemon Law or House Bill 5115 was approved at the House of Representatives in 2008 and is currently pending for reading and approval at the Senate.

The poll is being conducted following the series of vehicle recalls on different car brands and models, some of which are sold in the Philippines.

"The recent recall of millions of defective cars sold in the United States and other countries by one of the world's leading manufacturers has raised alarm bells all over the globe," the poll said.

Kalamnsi Law. (05 March 2010)
  • Rem says @tomjones totoo po yun. kasi hindi pare pareho yung pinag kukunan ng mga car manufacturers ng mga sasakyan. like yung Corolla, made in U.S yung kanila satin dito lang. except sa Prius. kaya hindi tayo kasama dun. (05 March 2010)
  • arville says Try Kamote law. I agree with u Tomjones, thats a big b*llsh*t! Somebody is trying to look good in the congress... As always. (05 March 2010)
  • AA says We need this law para di naman tayo masyadong kawawa as consumers (05 March 2010)
(06 March 2010)
  • abugeorge says No, I think we do not any lemon law as of now, toyota is such a big bully because they are big, and had no competition. With a "Lemon Law" the offending car factory just pay the fine, get rid of the problems, and stay as no 1 and increase the car prices next time. But if car owners have more wider choice in the car markets, such bully will not last a day. (06 March 2010)
  • southboy says dapat 5 years warranty and dapat covered lahat.. insured ang sasakyan pati ang mga pasahero!! (06 March 2010)
(07 March 2010)
  • maranello_5775 says @dcyy77, it's the local diesel fuel that makes CRDI diesel engines suffer knocking or even stalling...Toyota's D4-d is sensitive so don't fuel up on untested brands or gas stations (07 March 2010)
  • abugeorge says I agreed with southboy to extend the warranty to 5 years, in America, the dealer even extend a 7 years warranty on the automatic tranmission in certain cases. (08 March 2010)
  • Kalemonsi says TMP is saying that they have different suppliers than the ones in the US, But aren't the mechanism designs the same with their cars here too? I mean a corolla is a corolla, a camry is camry. They may have changed a couple of aesthetics depending on the country but the engineering is the same, ryt? and AFAIK the defects came from the designs. (08 March 2010)
  • abugeorge says There is a term in the auto industries called "Over Designed or Over Engineered." Given the advances made in engineering sciences and the experiences gained in making car, the car factory can compute the life of each parts, and if they think that it is too strong, the quality have to be adjusted downward. The persons who initiate those have every things to gain, the management happy, and cost saving as bonus. But thing does not always end right. (09 March 2010)
  • Mojo-Jojo says Sorry kalemonsi... but our Camry here is called Aurion in other countries... ang totoong camry ay yung nasa US at EU. (12 March 2010)
