M-Sport, the motorsport outfit behind Ford's participation in the World Rally Championship, has just confirmed that ex-Formula 1 driver Robert Kubica will compete in all 13 rounds of the 2014 WRC season in a Fiesta RS WRC rally car.
According to M-Sport, Kubica winning five of his seven races in the lower-tier WRC 2 events this year, convinced Polish oil company Lotos and M-Sport to sign up the ex-F1 driver to pilot one of its Fiesta RS WRC cars for the 2014 season.
"A decisive victory for Robert in the WRC 2 class in 2013 confirmed his extraordinary talent and determination," Grupa Lotos chief executive Pawel Olechnowicz said in a statement. "We are very pleased that we can support such an excellent driver. Robert has consistently pursued further goals and does so with a passion that characterizes only the greatest athletes. We believe that next year he will confirm his position among the top rally drivers in the world."
Kubica's confirmation for the 2014 season comes only a month after he made his debut in the series at the season-closing round in Wales in November.
"I am really glad that I will participate in all 13 rounds of the World Rally Championship with the Fiesta RS WRC," Kubica shared. "The support of my partner, Lotos Group, combined with the knowledge and experience of M-Sport, will create a solid foundation for my further development. I am looking forward to gathering valuable experience on the WRC stages."
