Tired of high fuel prices? Put up your own Petron station

You complain about rising fuel prices all the time. Well, haven't you thought of putting up your own gasoline station? If you have an unused patch of land lying around somewhere, you might want to consider Petron's invitation to apply for a franchise under the company's "dealership program."

"All you need is a plot of land of the right size located along a well-traveled thoroughfare," said the press statement sent to us. "Depending on the feasibility study, a Petron dealer may choose the appropriate station configuration to match the market potential with his/her investment capacity."

On its official website, Petron details the three-stage selection process as follows:

  • SCREENING: If you own or lease a lot that you think is fit for a Petron service station, you already have one requirement off the list. The first step is to fill out our Dealer Application Form (click here). Next is to write a letter of intent and submit it together with other documents. When all your documents are complete, submit your application to our offices. Upon receipt, we will review your documents and assess your proposed site. We will advise you of your application status as soon as possible. Tip: Remember to ensure that your documents are complete.
  • TRAINING: When you pass our screening process, we will share with you the good news immediately. We will endorse you for enrollment in a four-week Petron Dealer Management Course (DMC) to give you a deeper understanding of the business and a more comprehensive training. We conduct the DMC at the San Miguel Corporation Head Office Complex located in Mandaluyong City. Even after you graduate from DMC, we will continue to guide you in running your Petron service station. On your first few days of business, expect us to visit and hold hands-on training with you and your personnel to ensure your station's seamless operations.
  • PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION: Prior to construction, we will discuss and present the blueprint of your service station. Details such as design, specifications, and materials; attainment/submission of necessary permits required by national and local government units; and finances will be discussed during this time. We are your partner in building your very own Petron service station. Trust that you can rely on us from the application to the operation of your business.

So, about that unused patch of land...

You'll need a lot, Petron doesn't easily approve an applicant. Applicant must have big resources, have other big businesses before they give a franchise. It;s not that easy and not for aspiring SME's. After all they don't want a trial and error business with you. Must have strategic location na 1000 sq.meter, tapos yung franchise fee and construction cost. Probably you'll need 20M.

I think if you have the capacity to put up your own gas station, then you're not one of the Filipinos who're complaining about high gas prices. Mayaman ka na eh, wala na lang Sayo yun:)

pwede naman Sir DePendot, just like nung sa family friend namin, they're a bigtime motorcycle seller (not franchisee) they get Seaoil gas station so that they're gas expenses be lessened. Kinikita na nila yung gastusin nila sa fuel ng mga sasakyan nila.

Better explore/ drill oil/ gas in the Spratlys Islands. Never mind the Piyawsi Chekwas out there. At least we will be independent for our oil requirements and free from any problems arising in the troubled Middle East region. The real life Mafias ever since are the Multi- National oil cartels which dictates the international price of petroleum not the OPEC.
