VGT-equipped Montero Sport, Strada to lead Mitsubishi lineup

By Patrick Everett Tadeo Philippine Car News - Mitsubishi Montero Sport and Strada

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines will soon take the 3.2-liter variants of the Montero Sport and Strada off the lineup and push the freshly-launched variable-geometry turbo (VGT) variants to be the range-topping vehicles for both models.

"We're phasing out the 3.2-liter variants this year to make way for the new VGT-equipped variants," said Arlan Reyes, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines' assistant manager for advertising and promotions. "Once we've exhausted our supply of the 3.2-liter variants, the 2.5-liter VGT-equipped variants will become our high-end models."

Reyes added that Mitsubishi is offering a sizable discount to those who will purchase the 3.2-liter variants as the Japanese car company makes room in its inventory for the VGT-equipped vehicles. The 3.2-liter Montero Sport GLS SE 4x4 and GLS 4x4 are currently sold at P1.72 million and P1.48 million, respectively. The 3.2-liter Strada GLS Sport 4x4 (AT) is at P1.305 million and the GLS Sport 4x4 (MT) is at P1.265 million.

Mitsubishi Philippines expects to keep its dominance in the sport-utility vehicle market as it eyes to sell 1,200 units of the Montero Sport with VGT this year. It targets to sell 450 units of the similarly-equipped Strada.

  • BOOGIECAT Feb 24 2011 @ 02:50pm
@redcat:Mas mahal pag yan ang nilagay na engine sa Montero Sport at para lang yan sa Pajero BK.

I cannot believe na MMPC are already selling na ng 4x2 GLS vgt and those waiting for GT-V have to wait until 3.2 old stocks are sold. Merong taga MMPC na parang nag messed up big time.

My Friend is waiting to buy but his Casa have given him no information as to date on availability.

It is looking like a MMPC publicity disaster ....

@redcat. Walang 3.2vgt strada even in Australia or Europe; so is not going to happen here.

Am waiting for a black GT-V; my first Mitsubishi since 1995. No idea when I will be getting it though, as my CASA does not know yet.

Some friends in NCR region said their Casa said in two weeks time,
They are saying there is P35,000 discount and free LTO registration for 3 years plus the usual goodies.

Brochures for 2011 models are now on mmpc website.

@pizzalancerevo hahaha...I think Botchi just had his favorite lunch so it pretty much negated the Mitsu's advantage. :)
  • Knowell Feb 27 2011 @ 06:12am
Yeah why not a CRDi equipped and revamped Adventure, so that Mitsu's trio could finally trash another manufacturer's vaunted trio...

Will there be a Strada 4x4 VGT (MT) variant too? From what I've gathered so far, only the 4x2 and 4x4 (AT) VGT-Strada's will be available.
