What standard features will the high-end Mitsubishi Mirage have?

Mitsubishi Mirage features

You already know that Mitsubishi Motors Philippines will launch the Mirage hatchback either late October or early November, and that the company expects to sell 500-600 units a month of the small car. Surely, MMPC is equipping the Mirage with some nice features if the car is to sell well, right? So we asked MMPC marketing services vice president Froilan Dytianquin about the list of standard features which the top-of-the-line GLS variant of the Mirage will sport.

Here is a summary of the features the Mirage GLS will rock in our market:

* Antilock brakes;

* Electronic brake-force distribution;

* Dual airbags;

* Keyless engine start/stop button;

* 15-inch alloy wheels (the base GLX will have 14-inch steel rims with hubcaps);

* Fog lamps;

* Rear spoiler;

* Four-door power windows (the base GLX will only have power windows for the front doors);

* Multimedia entertainment system with touch-screen display, GPS navigation system, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity; and

* Tonneau cover

Not bad if you ask us. Do you think these features are enough to enable the Mirage to beat the likes of the Ford Fiesta and the Honda Jazz?

    Definitely!

    they could top the sub-compact sedans out there... watch out Jazz's and Fiesta's coz the 3 diamonds Mirage strike anew....!!! (love the cool features for the top-of-the-line)
  • Romeo Alfa 10 months ago
    is it also keyless entry?
  • carl96 10 months ago
    If the price is up to 620K just like what was announced here, I am more than a hundred percent positive it will be a craze. Even the GLX is priced enough if it's just under 500K.

    Nice move for Mitsubishi, this might be a hit! I hope they would put the start-stop function in the other Mitsubishi models as well (Lancer, ASX, etc.).
    • 17Sphynx17 10 months ago
      the push start/stop button is standard in the ASX already right?
      • Kyoichi Sudo 10 months ago
        in the GLS and GLS SE, No Push button on the GLX
        • lord_cykb24 10 months ago
          hope also they will equip in the Strada/MS.......
          and they're rocking good...!!!!
  • Kyoichi Sudo 10 months ago
    Good move, Mitsu. Now show them what you got!
  • fortis 10 months ago
    it may steal some sales of the Fiesta but not the Jazz
    • elxdv 9 months ago
      maybe it would further cannibalise on lancer and asx sale and jazz sales has already been affected by the japan tsunami and thailand flood which was further worsen by the popularity of ford fiesta. but i'd say more car models more choices for car buyers which is very good.
  • barre05 10 months ago
    All the goodies mentioned, and yet... how about safety features? Not one mention of the most basic of safety features such as ABS, Airbags, etc?
    • ultramagnus 10 months ago
      read the article again dude. ABS is antilock braking system or "Antilock brakes" in the article and Airbags is . . . well, airbags. the thing has two of them (hence the "dual"). Electronic brake-force distribution or EBD is also for safety.
      • Kyoichi Sudo 10 months ago
        Nope, the safety features you saw are just recently added, wala pa yan kanina nung nag-comment kami ni Sir Barre05.
      • barre05 10 months ago
        When I posted my comment four hours ago, the list did not include the safety gear I was asking about.

        Please don't assume that people on this forum are uninformed. I know very well what ABS and airbags are. It just so happens that the editors of the site adjusted their article to reflect what they missed earlier.

        You, sir, made a comment that was late, so you have no idea what content was posted here at that time.

        A little respect towards your fellow forumers goes a long way.
        • Vernon B. Sarne
          We apologize if we caused any confusion. But yes, we added the safety features after you pointed it out. So, thank you.
    • Kyoichi Sudo 10 months ago
      Sir thank you for pointing this out, maybe one of the TGP staff noticed your comment that's why they added the safety features...

    Are those HYUNDAI gauges?! ^0^
    • Kyoichi Sudo 10 months ago
      What Hyundai Gauges?
      • lord_cykb24 10 months ago
        i think he referred it to the image above, but unlikely is way out of comparison with the Hyundai's gauges...!! It's typical Mitsubishi like ones in the Strada/MS
    • nicologarcia 10 months ago
      actually they look like the Vios 1.5G optitron gauges, don't they?
  • RS500 10 months ago
    Space and versatility Jazz pa din.
  • ultramagnus 10 months ago
    I agree with fortis. Jazz buyers aren't on the same market for the Mirage. It will eat up shares from other sub-compacts but the gadgets alone won't sway anyone already wanting to buy a Jazz.
    • fortis 10 months ago
      Yeah, the Jazz definitely is still the king of hatchbacks.
      • mitchz 6 months ago
        it is far comparison between jazz vs mirage, bcoz jazz is 1.4 compact car while mirage is 1.2 sub-compact but mirage features very rather than the jazz...the counter part of honda jazz is ford fiesta, suzuki swift, toyota yaris, nissan almera, and mazda 2,
  • patsan 10 months ago
    Tough competition for the Chevy Spark :)
  • jigg11 10 months ago
    Raring to test drive one now! It'll definitely be a hit for sure. This will be mitsu's answer to firmly hold the 2nd spot in sales after toyota.
  • Evo Lance 10 months ago
    is'nt that correct, Mirage is larger that spark/i10/picanto but smaller than jazz/fiesta/yaris? whatever it is, I think it will beat all hatchbacks if the claimed FC is true. cant wait for judgement day.
  • sef21 10 months ago
    The speedo looks similar to the one in the Vios.
  • windel 10 months ago
    sana dumating na ang 1.6 ecoboost fiesta.
    • Kyoichi Sudo 10 months ago
      Just to tell you, You're way off the topic.
  • Feeter Silverster 10 months ago
    Naku Hyundai i10 and Eon have to upgrade na, baka matalo ng Mirage.
  • isaac3654 10 months ago
    I'm smelling a hit from Mitsubishi! :)) Top trim Mirage is generously equipped! Now I know my favorite subcompacts! Of course, may all time favorite, Jazz/Fit, Fiesta, now This!
    • isaac3654 10 months ago
      though I have to say, the looks, uhhhhh? I'm not too sure about them. It's not *gly, nor is it beautiful. I think if the grille was black, (duh its black, I mean the face is black, a la Lancer EX GT-A or Lancer RalliArt)
      • Kyoichi Sudo 10 months ago
        Go to our Tropang Top Gear FB Group and I have a picture of a thailand Mirage that has a Lancer EX styled nose.
  • d.lake 10 months ago
    Panalo features nito compared sa competitors nya like picanto, spark. Pero parang talo sa appearance for me. Parang mas maporma pa ata ng eon? Haha
  • SAS77 10 months ago
    Will they bring the Mirage Evolution here too? It looks very sporty, might sell a lot if it ain't too expensive.
  • todsip 10 months ago
    i agree with you dude...eon is way more better...we got it 2 weeks ago...we travel from cdo(220km)-butuan-(235km)-tagum-dvo- gensan(220km) nag gas lang ako ng1300 pesos...thats way to from any other sub compact cars....even the design is cool, i called it mini tucson...mitsu is not even clos with ford tech i have a 2011 ranger is equipped with VGT AND LSD AND EBD and its only a 4x2 since 2007 and i was surprise when mitsu launch the VGT in 2012...dont you think thier tech is masyado ng late...thats a 5 yrs diff from ford...dont even compare it to ford and honda...i think yung kaha ng mitsu is just a plain sheet na nilagyan lang ng masilya kaya kumapal...masandalan mo lang dented na agad...sorry guys...
    • markdejesus76 10 months ago
      Mitsubishi Evolution.
      Mitsubishi Pajero.
      Mitsubishi i-MiEV
      Mitsubishi Eclipse.

      Ford, Honda, and many others are not comparable to Mitsubishi. Remind yourself that Mitsubishi Motors is just a small part of Mitsubishi group. Think before you talk mate.
      • Kyoichi Sudo 10 months ago
        He doesn't know the meaning of "Think" or "Thinking"....
    • RS500 10 months ago
      The main problem with the eon is the size. Try driving that thing in commonwealth ave during rush hour and I double dare that you'll frighten yourself until you reach the end.
    • SAS77 10 months ago
      The only thing late with Mitsu is the VGT. Their other tech is more advanced. Dual Clutch Systems, AWC, S-AWC, Hybrid LSDs are a few examples of this. Oh and the CVT which is only being adapted recently by other Automakers was already with Mitsubishi since year 2000. That tech you mentioned your ranger has, it also is available on the Strada. As for the body? Sheet metal? I used to stand on the hood of my uncle's pajero in our trail run, all 70kg of my weight on the hood and no dent, same thing with the roof. Sorry dude but you're way off with what you "THINK".
      • Kyoichi Sudo 10 months ago
        Exactly!
      • markdejesus76 10 months ago
        I thought CVT's were pioneered by Nissan. Or it's just what I thought. :)
        • SAS77 10 months ago
          Not sure who had it first. But Mitsu applied the CVT on the 2000 Pajero SWB.
      • kit_mmc 10 months ago
        uyyy don't forget INVECS & GDI back in 1995. ACTIVE AERO, AWD 4WS & muffler controller in 1990 (MITSUBISHI 3000GT)........ basta refer to the HSRs (Highly Sophisticated Research Vehicles) where you can see that they are so advanced back from where we didn't expect...... B)
        • SAS77 10 months ago
          3000GT. Man, I wish Mitsubishi would bring that back. That car could race head to head with Mustangs.
      • isaac3654 10 months ago
        S-AWC for me is the best innovation from Mitsubishi! :))
    • ratchet23 10 months ago
      ^ and the EON was design only with a manual transmission. so far, has no automatic variant. the mirage has a CVT.
      • Kyoichi Sudo 10 months ago
        Yes, the Mirage also doesn't have a matic, but a CVT, Yes!
    • d.lake 10 months ago
      Medyo di ko lang trip itsura ng mirage. Pero aside dun, ang ganda ng mitsu. Lancer, montero, strada, etc. Lamang sila sa features with a cheaper price than its competitors gya ng montero at strada. Kaya mas malaki market share nila over fortuner and hilux e. Isama mo pa ang walang kamatayang L300. Maganda man ang ranger, ang hina naman ng sales ng ford

      What's your point about saying this?
  • ratchet23 10 months ago
    nice one mitsubishi!. auto-climate control nalang kulang from thailand Premium GLS. 15 inch alloy wheels talaga? 14 inch lang sa ibang market.
  • SymphonyX7 10 months ago
    Looking good especially if the fuel consumption numbers are anywhere near real. Most of the people I know who buy a subcompact are after fuel consumption. Space is looking good as well for the price. It's larger than a Celerio, Spark or Eon (all three being really cramped in the rear for anyone over 5'4") while interior seating should be about as large as a Fiesta, i10 and Yaris. Also, top of the line is 620K -- it's definitely out of the Fiesta, Yaris and Jazz's (700K subcompact) territory. The i10 should be the direct competitor of the Mirage overall, but I don't think the i10's FC can match the Mirage's (I know, cause I used to own an i10).

    Looking forward to this car!
  • ximonne 10 months ago
    Mirage is nowhere near as good looking as the Fiesta or the Jazz, but a car as jam-packed with goodies as that is hard to ignore. More than makes up for its aesthetic shortcomings, IMO.
  • jetski 11 months ago
    if the price is right.. MMPC can do that, they have done that in the past like Montero Sport, Adventure and Lancer.
  • princess 10 months ago
    of course no if i were a jazz and fiesta buyer , im more after performance than value (i think the accent and vios offers more value) , and feautures but then again the jazz and fiesta wont fall short on feautures

  • The Stig 10 months ago
    Niceee...di talaga madamot ang mitsu sa gadgets and cool features...Dinisplay yung Hyundai Eon sa Robinson d2 sa amin...d mn lng power windows and napakacheap tingnan ng audio system...la pa talagang airbag...finally a subcompact car that is busog sa loob...
    • elxdv 9 months ago
      i think maybe because they belong to a different market segment we cannot compare mirage and eon. they did not put all the nice features on the eon to keep the selling price on level or below its market segment, and it is nice that mitsubishi is expanding their model line up, car buyers will have more choices. thanks mitsubishi and to hyundai and to the rest of the automobile brands for bringing in new models.
