The Ford Ranger was introduced here in 2000. It was the second mainstream volume model to be manufactured and sold by Ford Philippines. Although it shared its name with its US counterpart, the two generations of the Asian-market Rangers offered here from 2000 to 2011 were based on the Mazda B-series just like the earlier Ford Courier models. The first real all-new Ranger since the nameplate’s local debut landed on our shores in 2012, unlike its Mazda-developed predecessors, the new generation Ranger was developed by Ford Australia.

The Ranger is all-new for the 2023 model year. The American carmaker's mid-size pickup now features a more muscular design influenced by the full-size F150. Up front it gets a larger grille flanked by C-clamp LED headlights. Moving to the sides, it has a more defined shoulder line and slightly flared fenders to match its wider stance. For added convenience, an integrated rear box step was added right after the rear wheels. At the back, LED taillights compliment the rugged styling details of the front. The rear tailgate now features a stamped "RANGER" name. Lower variants use reflector-type headlights and taillights. Inside, the new Ranger gets a neater and more modern dashboard design. The centerpiece is its large vertical infotainment screen. All variants get a digital gauge cluster.

The 4x4 Wildtrak variant is powered by a 2.0-liter Bi-turbo diesel mill which puts out 207hp and 500Nm of torque. The rest of the other variants get a single-turbo 2.0-liter unit which makes 168hp and 405Nm of torque. The 2.0-liter Bi-turbo variant is equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The rest get either a 6-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual tranny. All 4x4 variants come with a standard electronic-locking rear differential. The 4x4 Wildtrak variant gets four-wheel ventilated disc brakes.

Ranger Raptor

Like before, the wide-fender Baja-inspired Raptor variant continues with off-roading upgrades to match its rugged looks. The Ranger Raptor's long list of features include a coil-sprung Watts Link live axle rear suspension, 2.5-inch FOX Shocks, 285/70R17 BF Goodrich K02 High Performance All-Terrain tires, and seven selectable drive modes.
