Overview
The Next-Gen Territory compact SUV is the latest version of Ford's popular compact SUV. It features the American carmaker's new "Progressive Energy in Strength" design philosophy. Its front-end is dominated by a large integrated honeycomb grille, this is flanked by split lighting elements that consists of signature LED daytime running lights and turn signals at the top and LED headlights at the bottom. Moving on to the sides, it has sculpted sides and prominent rear haunches. At the back, it gets slim horizontal LED taillights.
Inside, it gets a modern dashboard with an elegant “coast to coast” horizontal layout. The Next-Gen Territory features a semi-floating panoramic display which integrates the digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen. Like before, the latest Territory offers plenty of rear passenger legroom as well as a near-flat rear floor. Rear AC vents are standard.
Under the Territory's hood is a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 EcoBoost gasoline mill which puts of 158hp and 248Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.
The Next-Gen Territory has independent MacPherson strut suspension up front, and Ford's familiar multi-link set-up at the rear. Four-wheel disc brakes are standard on all variants.
The Next-Gen Territory has a long list of safety features, this includes 6-airbags, ABS, Electronic Stability Control, 3-point seatbelts for all seats, Blind Spot Information System with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and an HD 360-degree Around View Monitoring system. The range-topping Titanium X variant adds more safety features that include the following: Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Collision Mitigation System.
