The CX-5 is known for combining Mazda's sporty zoom-zoom image with the capablities of an SUV. For 2017 the Japanese carmaker has improved the CX-5 inside and out. While styling may look evolutionary, it's sharper lines give it a stylish and upmarket feel. Under the hood are three engine options, a 153hp 2.0-liter gasoline mill, a 185hp 2.5-liter gasoline motor, and a 173hp 2.2-liter oil burner which produces 420Nm of torque. All powerplants are mated to a SKYACTIV-DRIVE 6-speed automatic transmission. FWD is standard on the base 2.0 variant, while the 2.5 gasoline and 2.2 diesel variants come standard with AWD.
