The new gen Rexton was first previewed as the LIV-2 concept (essentially a thinly veiled production model) at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, SsangYong finally pulled the wraps of its new Rexton in 2017. In 2019 the new gen Rexton finally landed on Philippine shores. At 4850 mm long, 1960 mm wide, and 1800 mm tall, it’s longer, wider, and a tad lower than its predecessor. It features a longer boxier silhouette which replaces its predecessor’s stubby curvy shape. Inside it adopts a clean modern design with an integrated touch screen flanked by vertical central AC vents. The range topping variant get's an instrument cluster with a 7-inch LCD screen. For 2020 the Rexton was given a minor refresh. It gets a bigger grille which now sports a honeycomb pattern, this are flanked by updated headlights which now have titanium gray bezels.Powering the new Rexton is a 2.2-liter variable turbo diesel mill which puts out 179hp and 420Nm of torque, this is mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission. It's available with four-wheel-drive (higher trim) and two-wheel drive (lower trim).The new Rexton rides on a new Quad-Frame which features 5Gpa giga-steel and 63% high-strength steel. The result is a stronger construction without the unwanted additional weight.
