The Toyota RAV4 was all-new for 2019. The Japanese carmaker ditches the old rounded styling for a boxier appearance. Toyota's designers took inspiration from the brand's range of rugged SUVs like the US market Tacoma mid-size truck and 4Runner SUV. These styling influences can be seen on its bold hexagonal grille and angular flared wheel arches. This transformation gives the compact Japanese softroader a more athletic and more adventurous image. Inside it's the same story, the angular theme continues on the dashboard. Soft touch materials give it a modern upmarket feel. Like most new vehicles, the new Toyota RAV4 has a tablet style floating touchscreen. For 2022, Toyota has made some updates, the most obvious being the switch to hybrid-only RAV4 lineup.
Under the hood is Toyota's 2.5-liter A25A-FXS Dual-VVTi gasoline engine which puts out 176hp and 221Nm of torque; this is paired to a 118hp electric motor. The total system output is 215hp. All variants come standard with continuously variable transmission and front-wheel drive. On the safety department, all variants get the Japanese brand's "Toyota Safety Sense" suite of safety tech and driver assistance systems. The "White Pearl Crystal Shine" paint costs an extra P15,000.
