Daihatsu’s Indonesian division, PT Astra Daihatsu Motor originally developed the Toyota Agya & Daihatsu Ayla twins as part of the Low-Cost Green Car program in Indonesia. The mission was to make an affordable, fuel efficient, environment friendly car. The little 5-door hatchback which was renamed “Wigo” for the Philippine market was finally introduced in our market in early 2014. The first gen Wigo was given a facelift in 2020.
In 2023 Toyota launched the all-new second gen Wigo, now longer, wider, and lower than the model it replaces. The new Wigo's slim headlights and sharper lines and sleeker profile give it a sportier more mature appearance than the previous model. This new design theme continues inside, its dashboard features cleaner more angular lines. Top and mid variants get a contemporary tablet-style 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, while the base variant uses a 1-DIN stereo.
Under the hood of the all-new Wigo is the familiar 1.0-liter 12-valve DOHC 3-cylinder gasoline mill with VVT. This powerplant puts out 66hp and 89Nm of torque. The all-new Wigo can be had with either a 5-speed manual transmission (J) or a continuously variable transmission E & G).
