The Santana is Volkswagen Philippines' newest entry into the sub-compact segment. It rides on the long-wheelbase version of VW Group's PQ25 platform. It's styling is unmistakably Volkswagen, this means the same neat crisp lines inside and out one would expect from the German brand. Two body styles are available, a 4-door sedan and the 5-door GTS wagon. Safety features like ABS, dual SRS Airbags, 3-point seatbelts for all occupants, and ISOFIX seat anchors come as standard. The sedan Santana 1.5 180 MPI A/T S and 1.5 180 MPI A/T SE variants were given a mild update for 2021. The 1.4 MPI M/T variant soldiers on as the entry level variant.
The Santana is offered with two gasoline engines; the base 1.4-liter unit which puts out 89hp and 132Nm of torque, and the larger 1.5-liter mill which produces 109hp and 145Nm of torque. The smaller motor is paired to a five-speed manual transmission, while the larger powerplant is mated to a six-speed automatic tranny.
