I knew that this section would be pretty cool. Just in case you folks are wondering, I spot these cars when I commute to work on my bicycle. If you have any leads with places for me to check out, don't hesitate to get in touch and let me know about them.
I also opened this new section to submissions, and I was pleasantly surprised by the feedback. These two cars were submitted by Rust 'N' Pieces reader Aloha Milkyway.
In his own words: "First is this red 1976 Mitsubishi Colt Galant. The exterior is a bit shabby and is probably quite rusty if you peel away the paint.
Also, it's been standing there for a very long time as evidenced by some undergrowth underneath. Inside though, is all original. The door cards even have plastic dating back in '76! You can't get more Pinoy than that.
The only thing that needs replacing in the interior is the cracked dash and moldy steering wheel. This car belongs my uncle's dad. It was left behind when his father left for the US in 2001. It's still a mystery why my uncle still hasn't considered restoring it. Maybe it's my job to do that. Second is a KE30 Toyota Corolla. It's been standing there for as long as I can remember and I think its only role in our village is as quickly deteriorating fixture.
It's got extreme patina and a rusty front valence. Unlike the Colt Galant, the interior has been turned into a pile. Inside you'll see the odd box, shoe and tire! People would much rather restore a Corolla SR, but it would be nice if this found a new lease on life."
Thanks for the submission, Aloha Milkyway! I will be looking forward to more in the future!
