The Nissan Leaf is a vehicle we’ve been eagerly awaiting for quite a while now here at Top Gear Philippines. It’s been pegged for a release here for over two years now, and, well, we’re still here waiting.

Thankfully, we were recently given an opportunity to whet our appetites by Nissan Philippines, which handed us the keys to two Leaf units that have been brought to our shores ahead of the electric vehicle’s local launch.

First impressions? The EV definitely stands out, drawing its fair share of attention on the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) during a drive down to Laguna for our shoot. It’s also a good drive, too, on account of nice steering dynamics and the immediate torque its electric powertrain provides. Some features, like the E-Pedal and the mouse-inspired shifter, will take some getting used to, but getting a feel for using them is much quicker than you’d expect.
