Real-world test: How fuel-efficient is the Honda City 1.5 RS CVT?

Just how practical is the popular subcompact sedan?

Pump prices continue to rise (although we’re thankful for recent rollbacks), which is why more than ever, car buyers are starting to look for the most practical and fuel-efficient options available before they pull the trigger on a brand-new car.

So for our latest real-world fuel-consumption test, we chose one of the biggest hitters from the popular subcompact sedan segment: the Honda City. Specifically for this one, we drove the top-of-the-line Ciy 1.5 RS CVT that stickers for P1,115,000.

In this test, we drove the sedan for a total of five days through a mix of open highways and congested city streets. After 380.9km of driving, the car consumed a total of 26.745L of gas. Dividing the distance traveled by the amount of fuel spent, then we’re left with an actual fuel-consumption figure of 14.2km/L.
