It’s not easy assessing a car with a basic inspection at the dealership. At the bare minimum, you need to take a vehicle out for a spin to get even a simple feel for what it has to offer. Thing is, whether one should head out of the house just to try out a car is a decision in itself on account of COVID-19.
Thankfully for those of you who plan on checking out the 2022 Toyota Avanza, you can forego leaving the safety of your house because Top Gear Philippines editor-in-chief Dinzo Tabamo recently has in his possession the keys to the all-new MPV.
After spending some time with the vehicle, he’s come up with several pros and cons you might want to jot down in your notes.

First, let’s get into what the all-new Avanza has going for it. For one thing, it’s larger than its predecessor. It also flaunts a brand-new aesthetic that matches the increase in dimensions. Don’t let the macho new appearance fool you, though, as this MPV has a relatively comfortable ride, too.
As for what the Japanese carmaker could have improved on? Well, one small gripe is how the USB port on the floating touchscreen head unit is handled. Another is the MPV could have benefitted with a little more power under the hood.
