The all-new Audi A8 brings us one step closer to self-driving cars

The all-new Audi A8 has finally been revealed, ushering in what the carmaker calls a new design era for the entire brand.

Audi says the key to coming up with the fourth-generation flagship is the model's sporty appeal, lightweight build, and Quattro all-wheel drive. We won't argue with that. The latest iteration of the A8 is arguably the best-looking one yet thanks to strong character lines and muscular proportions. We have to say though that our favorite bit about the car is all the new tech that comes with it.

According to Audi, the A8 is the first-ever production car to be built specifically for "highly automated driving." Highlighting the A8's driverless capability is the all-new AI traffic jam pilot, which essentially handles driving duties in slow-moving traffic. "The driver no longer needs to monitor the car permanently," the company says.

The car is also "self-learning," Audi says. It studies routes being driven and uses data to suggest better ones to the driver. It's pretty neat stuff.
