Say what you want about how Michael Bay handled the Transformers film franchise—the man knows how to do action right. Sure, his films are usually mindless popcorn flicks filled from start-to-end with explosions. That doesn’t make them unentertaining.

Ambulance, Bay’s latest movie, looks to continue the trend with Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead role. The Oscar-nominated actor plays a career criminal named Danny who’s involved in a bank heist gone awry.

We don’t want to give too much of the story away, so we’ll keep it short: Danny and his brother Will, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II from The Matrix: Resurrections, end up having to commandeer an ambulance to escape. The plot is simple enough. You can check out the trailer for the film below:

Long chase sequences? Check. Over-the-top pyrotechnics? Yes, the movie has that, too. Frankly, anything more—like a coherent script—is a plus at this point. Expect Gyllenhaal to deliver a convincing performance as well.

Ambulance is actually based on Ambulancen, a Danish film by Laurits Munch-Petersen and Lars Andreas Pedersen. If you’re interested in making the movie your first in-cinema experience under loosened COVID-19 restrictions, it hits theaters on March 16.
