If you follow car enthusiast Angie Mead King, you probably know that these days, she’s living the farm life somewhere we assume is a good distance away from the metro. Consequently, she doesn’t get to drive around racetracks often anymore especially with the ongoing pandemic.

So, in order to keep her racing skills sharp during lockdown, she did what many of us gearheads have resorted to in quarantine: build her own sim-racing rig. She shared the process in a recent vlog entry posted on YouTube, and there she also mentioned that this build “became necessary” because she couldn’t get her hands on a Sony PlayStation 5. PC master race, amirite?

Just kidding—we’re not here for that discussion. What we’re here for is to check out King’s new gaming setup, because it’s pretty damn sick. It’s not your run-of-the-mill PC, because it was designed to be powerful enough to run VR. Just to give you the core (no pun intended) components of the rig, King got a fourth-generation AMD Ryzen 5 5600X processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card. That second piece alone easily costs six figures.

The rig features a DOF Reality 3 axis motion simulator. The sim-racing peripherals, meanwhile, comprise a Fanatec kit featuring a Podium wheel base, pedals, shifter, handbrake, and hub. There’s a Podium Porsche 911 GT3 racing wheel as well, but in King’s vlog, an actual RWB steering wheel can also be seen mounted onto the rig, which is a really nice touch.

Unfortunately, we don’t get to see King play any VR games on the rig yet as there’s still some work needed to be done before the setup can run VR seamlessly. Nevertheless, she says the entire rig will be getting a few more upgrades in the future like a new axis simulator, so we expect to see more updates from her soon. For now, we can get to see King assemble the rig and, of course, “take it out for a spin.” Spoiler alert: Apart from her driving, her cable management is actually pretty impressive, too. Anyway, click play on the embedded video below and enjoy.
