The stacked subcompact-crossover segment just got even more loaded, in case you hadn’t noticed. Honda Cars Philippines recently launched the all-new 2022 Honda HR-V, adding yet another entry to the growing list of value-for-money crossovers in our market.
The first order of business on our part is another one of our spec-sheet comparos. And in this bout, we pit Honda’s newest offering against some of the most competitive models in the segment: the Geely Coolray, Ford Territory, and Chevrolet Tracker. Specifically, we’ve picked the HR-V 1.5 S CVT, Coolray Sport Limited DCT, Territory 1.5 EcoBoost Trend CVT, and Tracker 1.0T LT Redline Edition AT for this one. Let’s get right to it.

Let’s start this off with the engine. The Coolray trumps its competitors in this category with its 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder gasoline engine that pumps out 177hp and 255Nm of torque. The Territory comes in second with its 141hp, 225Nm 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbopetrol.
The Tracker’s much smaller 1.0-liter turbocharged gasoline mill with 116hp and 175Nm and the HR-V’s naturally aspirated 1.5-liter petrol powertrain capable of 119hp and 145Nm fall short here. Just to be clear, we simply had to opt for the non-turbo HR-V variant for the sake of keeping the prices in this comparo as close as possible.
Nevertheless, the HR-V catches up in the safety department. The crossover packs Honda Sensing features which include forward-collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow—you’ll find none of these in the other three models here.
The Coolray does have its share of niceties, though, with a power liftgate and blind-spot monitoring, both of which the other crossovers here don’t have. All four have smart keyless entry systems with push-to-start ignition, and all but the HR-V have sunroofs to boot.
As mentioned earlier, we tried to keep the price tags of these four as close as possible. The most affordable of the bunch is the Tracker at P1,242,888, followed by the HR-V at P1,250,000 and the Coolray at P1,258,000. The Territory ends up as the most expensive one with a P1,277,000 SRP.
Given these specs and sticker prices, which of these do you think is the best deal? You can check out more info through the table below and tell us your pick in the survey that follows.
