It’s not very often a Toyota gets not one, but two refreshes over the course of its life cycle. But here we are with the 2019 Avanza—the second time in recent years that the word ‘new’ has been attached to the MPV.
Big changes? For starters, the MPV’s front end has received a major overhaul. It now comes with a much more muscular-looking lower fascia with new foglight housings, while the headlights have been divided into two parts. The grille looks great in black, too, and the wheel designs get an update as well.
The significant change inside the Avanza’s cabin is that it now comes equipped with a new 6.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system—the same unit found in higher-end Toyota models like the RAV4 and the Camry. Neat.
The Veloz and G variants come with a 1.5-liter engine capable of 103hp and 136Nm of torque. E and J units, meanwhile, are powered by a 1.3-liter engine with an output of 95hp and 121Nm. These come mated to either a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission, save for the Veloz which can only be had with the automatic.
As for the prices, you can find them in our previous story here. With new looks and added tech, is the 2019 Avanza now on your MPV shortlist? Check out our photos and let us know in the comments.
