The anime adaptation of ‘MF Ghost’—the ‘Initial D’ successor—will premiere in 2023

What a great time to be an Initial D fan. Avex Pictures has just confirmed that an anime adaptation of Shuichi Shigeno’s MF Ghost—the sequel to the OG street-racing manga—will premiere next year.

An official trailer has already dropped, and it’s sure to get a lot of you guys as excited as we are. The teaser is less than a minute long, but it shows just how promising the new anime looks. Think Initial D, but with much better graphics and newer and more expensive cars. 

In the brief clip, we get to see a Lamborghini Huracan racing a Ferrari 488 GTB, a Porsche Cayman neck-and-neck with a 911, and a Lotus Exige fending off an Alfa Romeo 4C. It’s pure adrenaline bliss. And in true next-generation racing fashion, there are also drones tailing the cars across the streets.

Of course, the modern-day hachi-roku, the first-generation Toyota 86, also makes an appearance. You can watch the official trailer below:
