Right off the bat, the JAC S2 has two things going against it: Its badge and its price. Many Filipino buyers have a distrust for China-made cars, while its sub-P800,000 price tag implies that there must be some sort of catch involved. If it sounds too good to be true and all that, right?

We can't say whether the last part is true or not—we'd need at least a few months with the crossover to determine that. But our impressions from our brief stint behind the wheel were more than promising. At first glance, it sports a Euro-inspired design that's easy on the eyes, and boasts decent ride comfort albeit with some body roll.

Inside, you get as many features as you would in a Japanese or American car that costs P100,000+ more: cruise control, steering wheel controls, a 7-inch touchscreen monitor, and tire pressure monitoring, just to name a few. On top of all that, the manufacturer assures everyone that parts for its new lineup, which is actually quite extensive, are readily available.
