This project is in good hands

It looks like a Ford vs. Ferrari movie is really happening, and a report by Variety indicates that the man behind the camera will be none other than the director of LoganJames Mangold.

The report says that the project will focus on Carroll Shelby, his team of engineers, and the American car company's pursuit of creating a vehicle capable of ending Ferrari's dominance at the 1966 Le Mans World Championship. The film will be under 20th Century Fox (which was also responsible for Wolverine's last film), and a representative from the studio has already confirmed Mangold's involvement. Nice.

According to the report, Tron's Joseph Kosinski and Public Enemies director Michael Mann also expressed interest in heading the project.

Frankly, this is good news. If he can instill the same level of intensity and drama to the two carmakers' early rivalry as he did with last year's hit superhero flick, we're going to be in for a real treat. Now let's just hope that this'll turn out to be more Logan or Walk the Line than a stinker like Knight and Day.
