It’s difficult to picture having to surrender the driver’s seat permanently because of old age. Us? We can’t even begin to imagine what it must feel like to give up motoring for good. When Father Time does finally call on us to settle comfortably in the backseat, however, we hope more car brands will have incorporated features similar to what Maxus Philippines has going on with the G10.
Anyone who’s ever driven for seniors or persons with disabilities will tell you that ingress and egress can sometimes be a complicated affair because of a number of factors—mainly a vehicle’s height, the size of its doorway, and seating position. This is a dilemma the Maxus G10 Assist Package answers in spades, as it equips the van’s second row with a programmable swivel seat to make things convenient for the less able.
Theo Sandico, who has owned a G10 equipped with the Assist Package for half a year now, says the swivel chair has been a game-changer for his senior father.
Sandico says the feature “has been very helpful to get our 95-year-old father up into the van,” adding that his dad rode in it to get his COVID-19 vaccination and that the van makes frequent trips to and from their hometown of Pampanga.
It’s a simple enough feature at first glance, but one that could have a major impact on making things convenient for a senior loved one. What other car models would you like to see provide something like this as an option?
