To be honest, we can’t imagine that detailing cars—as in the real dirty work-level stuff—is all that glamorous. But damn, we can’t help but dream of doing it for a living after watching this video.
As far as car restoration footage goes, this 29-minute-long YouTube video by Contempo Concept has to rank near the top. Not only is its subject, a deteriorated Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI, the stuff car porn is made of, but the production quality here is top-notch as well.
You can find the full video in its entirety at the bottom of this page. But before you get to that, some background regarding the vehicle it features.

As we mentioned, it’s a Lancer Evolution VI—not in its iconic red colorway, but in an equally popping Rheims Blue. The paint job had deteriorated, however, due to its previous owner leaving it parked out in the open for several years. The engine bay was less-than-pristine, and the undercarriage had a bit of corrosion as well.
To start, the entire exterior was given a fresh new coat of Rheims Blue. The brake calipers and wheels were repainted as well, with the former being given new discs and pads. Under the hood, the engine cover was replaced with a brand-new one that had to be bought via auction in Japan, and the undercarriage was cleaned using a dry ice blaster.
Once everything was finished, detailers treated components with a variety of products to ensure their longevity, including preservative wax to prevent corrosion.
You can check out the process in its entirety, including interior work, in the video below.
