Playing around with cars can be risky business. Sometimes, you don’t even have to be moving for things to go awry behind the wheel.
A heavily-modified pickup truck recently went viral after footage of it bursting into flames on a dynamometer was uploaded to the internet. The dyno showed a whopping 2,920hp before the vehicle’s engine exploded. Thankfully, emergency personnel with fire extinguishers were on hand and no serious injuries were reported. Look:
Footage of a prior run can also be viewed online on the Industrial Injection Diesel Instagram profile, and it appears the truck was going for 3,000hp when things went awry. Chances are the company will have quite a lot of work to do before that truck can hit the dyno and gun for that many horses again.
Yikes. One minute you’re blissfully watching your ride climb up towards 3,000hp on the dyno, the next your truck is engulfed in flames and your life is flashing before your eyes. We can only imagine what it must have felt like to be in the driver’s seat when the engine blew.
Anyway, we’ll probably think twice about standing close to anything on a dyno as the revs begin to pile up. Will you?
