Electric vehicles have been the talk of the town for quite some time now, and clearly, they’re the future of the automotive industry. Electrification is what’s next for all carmakers, and that includes even sports car brands such as Porsche.
The German carmaker, however, has beaten its competitors to the punch with the launch of the Taycan back in 2020. As expected, it wasn’t exactly everybody’s cup of tea—most new EVs like the Ford Mustang Mach-E are. You can’t please everybody, right? Be that as it may, it can’t be denied that Porsche’s first-ever EV is quite the engineering feat. Particulary this: the Porsche Taycan Turbo.
Sure, the Turbo in its name really raises eyebrows because of the fact that, well, it simply doesn’t have an actual turbocharger. But would you really go out looking for a boost when you’ve already got 616hp (671 with launch control) at your disposal? When you can do 0-100kph in 3.2sec, I doubt that would be the case.
But the blistering figures aren’t the only numbers you’ve got to talk about—there’s also maximum range and charging hours to discuss, too. But instead of letting us do all the talking, we have here Top Gear’s ‘Serious Car Tester’ Ollie Kew to cover all of that for us. Plus some comments about the Taycan Turbo’s ride and handling as well as a dive into the tech that Porsche’s stuffed into its EV to boot.
