Spec-sheet brawl: Nissan Patrol vs. Toyota Land Cruiser

These two icons go head-to-head

It may not seem like a great idea to compare two vehicles that have at least half a million pesos between them, we know. But if you think about it, the most fitting matchup for the Nissan Patrol would be none other than the Toyota Land Cruiser.

Price-wise, Nissan’s P3.888 million flagship SUV takes the win against its P4.474 million rival. Under its hood is a 5.6-liter V8 engine capable of 400hp and 560Nm of torque, which is 168hp more and 55Nm less than the maximum output of the Land Cruiser's 4.5-liter turbodiesel V8.

The caveat for the Patrol? Fuel costs. Not only does it run on gasoline, but it also chugs roughly 5km/L on the highway (and about 3km/L driving to Tagaytay). The Land Cruiser, on the other hand, is powered by a diesel engine which, according to our previous review, can average around 5-6km/L in city driving conditions and about 11km/L on the highway. It’s not the cheapest or most efficient, but it seems so when you put it side-by-side with its rival’s numbers. Then again, the people who’d actually buy these vehicles are those who can easily afford to fuel such thirsty machines.

Anyway, we think it’s time for you to look at the full specs yourselves. Check them out below, then tell us which of these two large SUVs is the better choice.
