Subcompact crossovers are city-friendly, easy to maneuver, and relatively versatile for their humble size. There are also a ton of models available to choose from, making buying one sort of a huge treat and a challenge at the same time.

For this spec-sheet brawl, we're pitting the quirky SsangYong Tivoli against the segment's current basic bae, the Suzuki Vitara. The former entered the market back in 2016 with a peppy powertrain and an eye-catching—albeit slightly unconventional—exterior look, while the latter came in the second half of last year and immediately caught everyone's attention as an affordable, feature-packed crossover offering.

One major plus for the Korean competitor? The mid-end EXG variant, at P945,000, is still cheaper than its Suzuki counterpart as it wasn't affected by the onset of higher excise taxes. The Vitara GL+ on the other hand saw a P50,000 increase, going from P938,000 to P988,000.

Looks are subjective, and whether a car is expensive or a bargain is ultimately up to a buyer's preference and budget limitations. What it all comes down to is specs.
