Last Sunday, we posted on our Facebook page a grainy photo of a miniature Ferrari Testarossa, which appeared to have a toddler in the driver\'s seat. It had been sent by one Jet Rivera, who said he had seen the thing parked in front of his uncle\'s house. You may see that photo here.
And as a testament to the wide reach of our Facebook page, the owner of the Testarossa toy car and the son of the guy who had restored it, separately sent us photos (better ones, obviously) to show us just how awesome the mini Ferrari is.
The dude in the photo above is the owner, Nikko Baguino. He sent us pictures of the smallish Testarossa in its current refurbished state. What you\'re about to see below, however, are photos sent by Christian Pascual, whose father Nestor was responsible for the toy car\'s flawless restoration. We assume Christian\'s father is a car mechanic or hobbyist.
According to Christian, Nikko is a family friend of theirs who brought the car to his dad to be restored. Apparently, Nikko had merely acquired the toy car from a previous owner. Based on the photos below, the car\'s original color was yellow. Christian shares that the car was no longer functioning when Nikko turned it over to them, its brakes out of order and its windshield already cracked. Christian also says that this Testarossa kart is equipped with a 5hp Briggs & Stratton engine and a two-speed automatic transmission.
Now that the mini Testarossa is already in perfect running condition--not to mention that it\'s already wearing the proper Ferrari red paint job--Christian\'s dad serves as its custodian, diligently looking after it since Nikko often leaves it at the Pascuals\' residence.
This is beyond cool. We wish we had something like this when we were still in our teens so we could have made believe we were Detective Sonny Crockett. Actually, it would be nice to have this now--just so we could go back to the \'80s, when life was so much simpler.
Well, there\'s an idea...
