Now, we know we said we were going to take a break from clicking on every classic Toyota Land Cruiser listing we come across online—but who are we kidding? Besides, it’s not like we’ve bought one out of compulsion yet. Still, we’re kind of cutting it close with this shiny red unit we recently came across on Bringatrailer.com.
Are we on the same boat? Don’t worry. We just need to hold out for six more days and we’re in the clear…because that’s when the auction ends. Considering the current bid already sits at $60,000 (P3.1 million), restraint shouldn’t be too much of an issue.
Anyway, what you’re looking at is a Collector’s Edition 80-Series unit from 1997 with just a little over 150,000km on its odometer. The color scheme alone will have you glued to your screen for at least a minute or two, with its popping Medium Red Pearl exterior and tan insides.

A 4.5-liter 1FZ-FE six-cylinder engine that sends 212hp and 373Nm of torque to all four wheels rests underneath the hood, with shifting duties handled by a four-speed automatic transmission. The suspension and brakes have recently been overhauled, and the SUV rides on nice 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires. Oh, and you’ll find neat Collector’s Edition badging outside, too.
The cabin appears just as pristine as the exterior. The tan material and woodgrain trim give off a very old-school vibe, though you’ll find modern niceties such as automatic climate control, a power sunroof, power adjustable front seats, and an aftermarket Pioneer head unit. A pair of Collector’s Edition floor mats are also included in the sale.
Frankly, whatever the sale price ends up being is probably going to be a tough pill to swallow for most. Again, though, the resale value of old-school Land Cruisers is skyrocketing, so you could kind of consider this an investment. What do you think?
