Toyota has already confirmed that it will finally remove the red, white, and black livery off the Supra prototype and reveal the all-new Supra at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit next month. As if we weren’t excited enough, the Japanese carmaker has further whet our appetites with this video of the car’s engine sound.
The video only goes for 30 seconds, but it gives you an idea of what to expect. The engine gives out a steady but exciting roar, along with some nice crackles from the exhaust for good measure.
“I think the new Supra will be the last present from Toyota to those who enjoy hearing the pleasing sound of a pure petrol engine at high revs,” chief engineer Tetsuyu Tada said about the project.
Toyota has yet to reveal any concrete performance specs, but we do know that the new coupe will be powered by a 3.0-liter in-line-six engine similar to the legendary 2JZ mill from the ’90s. Tada also revealed that the production version will be rear-wheel-drive, which should make for some nice drifting highlights in the very near future.
