What makes the Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) special? The launch presentations are a huge deal, of course. And so are the concept cars that the manufacturers fly in from Japan.
Opening day is usually the most hectic, but it’s also very exciting. We get a kick out of following the program schedules, and if you dig a little deeper, there are some fantastic story angles waiting to be unearthed. But in case you missed day one, we were there every step of the way, documenting every launch and unveil, especially for you.
Honda Cars PH (HCPI) had a Brio Small RS Concept on display to showcase how the brand intends to bring a shot of adrenaline into the mini segment. “This shows what we are thinking when we think about small sporty cars,” said Noriyuki Takakura, HCPI president.
“The heart of BMW is performance and sheer driving pleasure,” shared Spencer Yu, president of SMC Asia Cars Distributors. Did you know that the M5 packs 600hp?
“We’d like you to come and see all the cars and visit us, not just at the Isuzu booth, but at the booths of all the members of CAMPI,” remarked Joseph Bautista, Isuzu PH division manager for marketing and sales. “They have brought all their best vehicles here to PIMS 2018.”
Over at the Mitsubishi Motors PH booth, there are special promos that will really make you want to come and check out the cars. Nissan PH, meanwhile, unveiled the 370 Z and Juke Nismo. But the biggest buzz came from Suzuki—the carmaker had the all-new retro-styled Jimny on display. Interested buyers will have to wait a while, though, because the model isn’t scheduled to go on sale until next year.
