It was an epic weekend that Mitsubishi Motors Philippines hosted for us recently at the Tarlac Recreational Park, located roughly three hours from Metro Manila.

The Mitsubishi 4x4 Camp wasn’t just a chance to get down and dirty with the Montero Sport and the Strada, it was also an opportunity to ride shotgun with Dakar Rally champion Hiroshi Masuoka.

Masuoka-san is a Japanese national who gained worldwide acclaim for his skills behind the steering wheel. The long-time Mitsubishi rally driver is a back-to-back champion of the Dakar Rally, bagging top podium honors in 2002 and 2003. The historic Dakar Rally is perhaps the toughest off-road race in the world, and Masuoka-san has notched 25 stage wins in his storied career as a rally driver.

The Tarlac Recreational Park was transformed into a rally driver's playground, and we couldn’t contain our screams as the legendary pilot drove the Montero Sport sideways on a Dakar Rally simulation course. Talk about awesome. Watch our video above.
